Privacy policy
Scouut works with personal information every day - it's the substance of search. We treat it accordingly. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Scouut ("we", "us") is a Critical Search firm operating in Australia and the United States. We provide executive-style search and hiring advisory services to startups and venture capital firms. This policy covers personal information handled through our website and in the course of our services, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. [TODO: confirm legal entity name and ABN.]
What we collect
From candidates: name and contact details, career history, public professional profiles, work samples you share with us, interview notes, and our assessments. From clients: contact details, role and company information, and engagement records. From website visitors: enquiry form submissions and standard technical data such as browser type and pages visited. [TODO: confirm analytics tooling before launch - none is currently installed.]
How we use it
We use personal information to run searches - identifying, assessing and presenting candidates for critical roles; to deliver advisory services; to respond to enquiries; and to improve our website and services. We do not sell personal information. We do not present a candidate to a client without the candidate's knowledge.
Disclosure
Candidate information is shared with the specific client for the specific role, and with service providers we use to operate (such as hosting and email providers). Because we serve clients in both Australia and the United States, information may be disclosed to recipients overseas; where it is, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with this policy.
Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, and to destroy or de-identify it when it is no longer needed for the purposes above or required to be kept by law.
Access and correction
You can request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Candidates can withdraw from any search at any time. Contact us at [TODO: contact email] and we'll respond within a reasonable period.
Complaints
If you believe we've mishandled your personal information, contact us first and we'll work to resolve it. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always live at this page, with the date above.
